Ingo Kowarik is full Professor for Ecosystem Science and Plant Ecology at the Technical University Berlin. He also has the following functions:

Coordinator of European Group on Biological Invasions NEOBIOTA, since 1999
Consultant to the Berlin Government for Nature Conservation and Landscape Planning
Chairman of the advisory council of Nature Conservation and Landscape Planning in Berlin, since 2001
Member of Scientific Committee of DIVERSITAS Germany, since 2003
Coordinator of Urban Ecology specialist group of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, 2000-2003
